We took an life changing bid
For years it had been a dream of mine to build a tiny home after becoming heavily invested in DIY networks series Tiny House Big Living and HGTV’s Tiny House Nation. The tiny house pandemonium was growing and with each episode I grew more and more intrigued. I shared my interest with Nick and he fell as quickly as I did, we had spent most of our date nights binge watching episodes and sharing pins on Pinterest. Before the new year began Nick and I had begun to dream of what it would be like to not have to work for the rest of our lives. I was going to be finished college in a year and he had already had been working full time in a cabinetry business. He hated having to go in everyday and do something he didn’t really love, it made me think about my own future and how I would soon be in the same situation. Even though I was going to school for something I had loved doing, the thought of working for the rest of my life behind a office desk didn’t seem like really living.
Then the unthinkable happened, Nick and I had talked about building our own tiny home and going full throttle on the idea. I began doing some research on where to find a school buses, we decided on a bus because it not only gave us more space but made us mobile. I found a bus on craigslist for under $2,000 not to far from where Nick had lived. When I told him about it he was ecstatic, but had some unfortunate news. While doing his research on eBay and wanted to know more about the bidding process so he was going to create an account. He hit the bid button but was unaware that he already had an eBay account, not only did He place a bid but he placed the highest bid! Nick put a bid in for $3,600 and only had 21hrs left for someone to out bid him. So after the 21hrs we had a bus! and a new home for us to create, Nick picked up the title two weeks ago and we parked the bus in his yard which would be our construction zone. Construction starts this week so keep an eye out for more post for our experience and the progress we make over the next couple of months.
